Find today's phase

Train with your body, not against it

Your hormones change all month.
Your workouts should too.

If you train the same way every single day, you're not getting the best results. Your energy, strength, and recovery change throughout your cycle. Enter your last period date below and we'll show you exactly what kind of training fits today.

This is a general guide based on an average cycle. Every woman's body is a little different, so use this as a helpful starting point, not a strict rule.

Step 01 · Phase calculator

Where are you in your cycle today?

Two numbers are enough to estimate today's phase: the first day of your last period, and your typical cycle length.

28 days
5 days
How this works: we estimate that ovulation happens about 14 days before your next period starts. This is a common, simple way to estimate your cycle. If your periods are irregular, very short, very long, or you're not getting periods at all, this estimate may not be accurate for you. Talk to your doctor about your specific cycle.

Your next 7 days

Your cycle, shown simply

Your cycle is a circle, not a checklist

Most apps show your cycle as a straight line, like it has a finish line. It doesn't — it loops back around every month. This wheel shows the four stages your body goes through, and which training phase each one matches.

Period · days 1–5

Your hormones are at their lowest point right now. This is when your Period training phase kicks in — light movement only, and it's okay to skip it.

Building up · days 6–13

Your energy starts climbing day by day. This is the lead-up to your Power training phase, as your body gets ready for its strongest days.

Peak energy · ~day 14

This is usually when you feel strongest and most confident. It's the heart of the Power training phase — the best time for heavy lifts and pushing yourself.

Winding down · days 15–28

Your energy can feel up and down here, and PMS symptoms may show up near the end. This is the Balance training phase — lighter loads, more recovery, no new personal records.

Step 02 · Your training plan

Three simple phases to train by

Each phase is named for what your body can handle, not for a specific date. Use the calculator above to see which one you're in today.

Phase 01

Period

Days 1–5 · on your period
How you'll feelLow energy
GoalStay gently active
Strength days1, and it's optional
  • Light bands and bodyweight moves — shoulder circles, rows, glute bridges
  • Walking, easy yoga, and stretching fill the rest of the week
  • Skip the whole day if cramps are bad — that's totally fine
Skip: heavy squats, deadlifts, hard cardio, and pushing for new max weights.
Phase 02

Power

Days 6–14 · energy is climbing
How you'll feelStrong, high energy
GoalLift heavy, push hard
Strength days4 · Mon / Tue / Thu / Fri
  • Your heaviest lifts of the month: squats, deadlifts, presses
  • The best time to try new, heavier weights
  • Always warm up fully before lifting — this matters even more right now
Rule: good form first, always — even on your strongest days.
Phase 03

Balance

Days 15–28 · energy is up and down
How you'll feelUp and down energy
GoalKeep moving, protect recovery
Strength days3 · Mon / Wed / Fri
  • Same exercises as Power phase, but about 80% of the weight
  • Slower pace, longer rests, no new max-weight attempts
  • Easy yoga and walks fill the rest of the week — PMS may show up near the end
Rule: if you're feeling low energy, do a lighter version — don't skip it completely.

Step 03 · The actual workouts

Every exercise, every day, made simple

Pick a phase below. Each day starts with a quick warm-up, then the main exercises — with how many sets and reps, how long to rest, and how long each one takes. Everything you need before you start.

Being honest with you

What we know for sure, and what's still unclear

Cycle training is popular right now, and the hormone changes below are well known and proven. What's still being studied is whether matching your training to your cycle actually makes you stronger. We'd rather tell you the truth than oversell it.

01

The hormone changes are real

Your hormones really do rise and fall the way the wheel above shows. That part is well established, not a guess.

02

The link to performance is still being studied

So far, research hasn't found solid proof that your cycle phase changes how strong you can get. Some studies show a small edge at certain times; others find no difference.

03

So why bother with phases at all?

Because how you feel is real, even when the research is mixed. Cramping, low energy, and PMS are things many women genuinely deal with. This plan is built around how you're likely to feel — and that's reason enough.

04

Your cycle won't match this exactly, and that's okay

Most cycles run between 21 and 35 days, with 28 being the average. Your own cycle can even shift slightly from month to month. Treat every date on this page as a helpful guess, not an exact answer.

The hormone timing on this page is based on cycle research used in patient education and in published studies on exercise and the menstrual cycle. This page is for general guidance only and doesn't replace advice from your doctor — especially if your periods are irregular, missing, or unusually painful.
